KSHV orfK7

This protein is encoded by the open reading frame K7 of the Kaposi sarcoma-associated virus KSHV. K7 protein contains a mitochondrial-targeting sequence, an N-terminal region of a BIR domain, and a putative BH2 domain. K7 is a glycoprotein structurally related to a splice variant of human survivin, which protects cells from cell death by apoptosis. K7 binds to BCL2 but not to BAX.
