[Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus orf45 protein] An alternative designation is HHV-8 orf45 [human herpesvirus type 8 orf45 protein]. This protein is encoded by an open reading frame specifying an immediate-early gene of KSHV (Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus). The viral protein interacts with cellular interferon regulatory factor-7 (IRF7), preventing its phosphorylation and accumulation in the nucleus of virus-infected cells.
