KSHV K-bZIP
This protein is encoded by the orfK8 open reading frame of KSHV [HHV-8 K-bZIP] and is one of the alternately spliced mRNAs encoded by the K8 gene (Sun et al, 1998; Gruffat et al, 1999; Lin et al, 1999; Seaman et al, 1999). K-bZIP is being referred to also as K8-alpha (K8-bZIP). K8-alpha is the product of a split gene and has K8-beta mRNA as a partially spliced K8 gene intermediate, which encodes a truncated protein with the same N terminus as K-bZIP protein but missing a C-terminal leucine zipper domain (Yamanegi et al, 2005). Another designation of K-bZIP is RAP [replication associated protein].
