In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD94 (Anonymus, 1993).
Kp43 has been identified as a cell surface antigen expressed on NK-cells, Gamma-Delta T-cells, and some CD8(+) CD56(+) Alpha-Beta T-cell clones. It is involved in the regulation of the IL2 dependent proliferative response of NK-cells and a subset of Gamma-Delta T-cells (Aramburg et al, 1990). Aramburg et al (1991) have reported that the interaction of the Kp43 dimer with its specific monoclonal antibody is capable of inducing cytolytic activity, suggesting a functional role in lymphokine-activated NK-cells
