this non-structural protein of Japanese Encephalitis Virus is involved in viral replication and pathogenesis.
Zeng Q et al (2023) have reported that the viral protein functions in the evasion of host innate immune responses. It suppresses the induction of IFN-beta production, mainly through targeting the TLR3 and TICAM1 [toll-like receptor adaptor molecule 1]. This involves inhibition of the activation of IFN-beta promoter triggered by interferon regulatory factors. The viral protein interacts with TLR3 and TICAM1 and inhibits the phosphorylation of IRF3.
