abbr. IgG2-IF. This biochemically uncharacterized factor of 50-70 kDa is present in the synovial fluid of rheumatoid arthritis patients. It functions as a T-cell replacing factor, which selectively induces IgG2b antibody formation in mouse spleen cells following cell activation in vitro and in vivo with bacterial lipopolysaccharides.
IgG2b induction is not caused by IL6, IL1, TGF-beta, PDGF, NGF, FGF, EGF, elastase, collagenase, or phospholipase A2 (see also: Isotype switching).
