IgA-Inducing Protein

abbr. IGIP. This bovine protein of 47 amino acids (Austin et al, 2003) is listed in protein databanks as IgA regulatory protein. The protein induces high level production of IgA from bovine B-cells, following CD40 stimulation in coculture with IL2. The factor is expressed in a variety of lymphoid and nonlymphoid tissues and appears to act as a switch factor or differentiation factor.
