[Impatiens balsamina antimicrobial peptides] Ib-AMP1 (QWGRRCCGWGPGRRYCVRWC), Ib-AMP2 (QYGRRCCNWGPGRRYCKRWC), Ib-AMP3 (QYRHRCCAWGPGRKYCKRWC), and Ib-AMP4 (QWGRRCCGWGPGRRYCRRWC) constitute a family of closely related antimicrobial peptides of 20 amino acids isolated from seed of Impatiens balsamina (Tailor et al, 1997). They are inhibitory to the growth of a range of fungi and bacteria and are not cytotoxic to cultured human cells (Tailor et al, 1997; Thevissen et al, 2005).
