abbr. IL10 APC. This cell type, phenotypically and functionally distinct from monocytes, is obtained after long-term exposure of human peripheral blood monocytes to IL10 in vitro. In vivo, monocytic cells from patients exhibit this phenotype after long-term IL10 exposure (Schoenbein et al, 2008).
These cells show high HLA-DR expression and low expression of CD86 and other co-stimulatory molecules on their surface. These cells also show strongly diminished TNF-alpha production following lipopolysaccharide stimulation, strongly diminished allogenic CD4(+) T-cell
