IEF SSP 3521
[Transformation-sensitive protein IEF SSP 3521] This protein has been identified by Honore et al (1992). The expression of this protein is upregulated in transformed embryonic lung fibroblasts. The protein is expressed also in psoriatic keratinocytes and in normal epidermal keratinocytes (Rasmussen et al, 1992).
In normal fibroblasts the protein localizes to the Golgi. In transformed cells it is localized mainly in the nucleus.
Sequence analysis shows that this protein is the human species homolog of the stress-inducible yeast protein STI1, which is a mediator of the heat shock response. It is the same as STIP1 [
