IBDV VP3 protein
[Infectious bursal disease virus VP3 protein] This protein is encoded in the genome of Infectious bursal disease virus (Birnaviridae family), an avian pathogen responsible for an acute immunosuppressive disease that causes major losses to the poultry industry. IBDV VP3 protein is a 28 kDa RNA binding protein that is a constituent of the ribonucleoprotein complex containing the viral dsRNA genome (Luque et al, 2009; Kibenge et al, 1997).
Expression of the VP2 capsid protein in infected cells activates the double-stranded RNA (dsRNA)-dependent protein kinase (PKR), which in turn triggers the phosphorylation of the eukaryotic initiation factor eIF2-alpha and then causes cell death by apoptosis
