I-TRAF

[Inhibitor of TRAF] I-TRAF is known also as TANK.

This protein was isolated as a mediator regulating activation of transcription factor NF-kappa-B. The protein interacts with several of the signaling molecules belonging to the TRAF protein family (TRAF1, TRAF2, TRAF3), which are involved in signaling through CD40 and the TNF receptor 2. Overexpression of I-TRAF inhibits activation of transcription factor NF-kappa-B mediated through the adaptor protein TRAF2 following signaling through CD40 and both TNF receptors.
