Hybridoma/plasmacytoma growth factor

abbr. HPGF (a term with multiple meanings). See also: HP1. This factor was described initially as an activity supporting the growth of hybridomas and plasmacytomas. It is produced by normal human fibroblasts and by a line of human osteosarcoma cells (MG-63). The aminoterminal sequence of the MG-63-derived protein is identical with that of 26 kDa protein. HPGF is therefore identical with IL6.
