Hippocampal type-2 cells
[hippocampus type-2 cells]
This cell type represents a type of proliferative neural precursor cell seen in the course of adult hippocampal neurogenesis. Subgroups of this cell populations have characteristics of astrocytes or show a complex phenotype of neural progenitor cells. Thus, these cells mark the transition between states representing glial cells and differentiation into neuronal cells (Steiner et al, 2006).
