This short neuropeptide has been identified by a FMRFamide radioimmunoassay in head extracts of the mosquito Aedes aegypti by Matsumoto et al (1989), termed Aea-HP-I [Aedes aegypti Head peptide-I] by the authors. The sequence is Glu-Arg-Pro-Hyp-Ser-Leu-Lys-Thr-Arg-Pheamide (ERPhPSLKTRFamide; the aminoterminal Glu is pyroglutamic acid; the second proline is Hydroxyproline) and shows sequence similarity to short Neuropeptide F peptides. The peptides has the same RFa sequence at the carboxyl-terminal as Lem-SK-I and II (leucosulfakinins) and Lem-MS (leucomyosuppressin) in cockroaches and peptides
