This short neuropeptide of unknown function has been identified by a FMRFamide radioimmunoassay in head extracts of the mosquito Aedes aegypti by Matsumoto et al (1989), termed Aea-HP-II [Aedes aegypti Head peptide-II] by the authors. The sequence is Thr-Arg-Pheamide (TRFamide). The peptide, like Head peptide-I, has the same RFa sequence at the carboxyl-terminal as Lem-SK-I and II (leucosulfakinins) and Lem-MS (leucomyosuppressin) in cockroaches and peptides related to FMRFamide from molluscs.
