HMFG antigen

[human milk fat globule antigen] This antigen has been detected with a polyclonal antiserum raised against defatted human milk (Ceriani et al, 1977). Monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies detect the antigen on epithelial cells (Cordell et al, 1985; Taylor-Papadimitriou et al, 1981; Hilkens et al, 1984). Antigen expression is not restricted to epithelial cells and has been found also on reactive or neoplastic lymphoid cells, including plasma cells, Reed-Stemnberg cell variants of lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin's disease, and some cases of T-cell lymphomas (Delsol et al, 1984).
