[human mast cell-1] This human mast cell line, and two established subclones termed HMC-1.1 and HMC-1.2, are used widely as model systems for primary mast cells for studies of mast cell biology and biochemistry and to probe roles of mast cells under physiological and pathological conditions. For examples of mice lacking mast cells to probe their functions in vivo see: mast cell-deficient mice.
These cells are derived from the peripheral blood of a patient suffering from mast cell leukemia. Kit
