HLP-1

[histone-like protein-1] This protein has been isolated from tissues of rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss and hybrid striped bass (Morone saxatilis male x M. chrysops female) (Noga et al, 2001, 2002.

HLP-1 has high sequence homology to histone H2B. It is involved in innate immunity and acts as an endogenous broad spectrum antibiotic. HLP-1 inhibits trophonts (feeding stage) of the parasitic dinoflagellate Amyloodinium ocellatum. The disseminative (dinospore) stage is not unaffected. HLP-1 also causes severe developmental abnormalities, including delayed development, in the parasitic trophont and the reproductive tomont stage. Similar activities have been observed also with calf histone H2B.

Robinette et al (1998) have reported that HLP-1 from Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
