abbr. HRF. This factor is secreted by a HIV1-resistant, transformed CD4(+) T-cell line (Lesner et al, 2005). The factor inhibits transcription of the virus by interfering with the activity of NF-kappa-B through inactivating the DNA-binding capacity of the NF-kappa-B p65/p50 dimer (Lesner et al, 2005).
Lesner et al (2009) have identified the resistance factor as a member of DING proteins family and renamed it X-DING-CD4 [extracellular DING from CD4(+) T-cells] (The name derives from the presence of a characteristic N-terminal sequence, DINGGG (or closely related) found in a number of proteins referred to as DING proteins).
