An older designation is Hmt [histocompatibility dependent on a maternally transmitted factor], which is a component of the cell surface maternally transmitted antigen (Mta) (Wang and Lindahl, 1993; Shawar et al, 1991; Wang et al, 1991) A gene fragment of the Hmt / H2-M3 gene has been cloned under the name R4B2 (Richards et al, 1989).
