glycophorin D is a truncated form of glycophorin C in its N-terminal region (24 kDa, residues 30-126 of Glycophorin C) (El-Maliki et al, 1989; Cartron et al, 1990).
In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD236.
