abbr. GSF (a term with multiple meanings). This biochemically uncharacterized factor is found in the conditioned medium of human glial tumor cells. It suppresses the mitogen responsiveness of normal human peripheral blood lymphocytes. GSF also inhibits the production of IL2 by mitogen-activated human T-cells. GSF suppresses and in some cases completely inhibits the expression of functional high affinity IL2 receptors on activated T-cells so that, in the presence of GSF, the addition of IL2 to mitogen activated
