Gastrokine-1
abbr. GKN1. The term gastrokine is often used synonymously. The gene encoding this secreted protein is expressed abundantly in normal stomach epithelium and is downregulated in gastric cancer (Oien et al, 2004). Human, mouse, rat, and cow sequences are highly conserved (Oien et al, 2004). The protein contains a conserved Brichos domain (Hnia et al, 2008). In some databanks it is being referred to as BRICD1 [brichos domain containing 1].
