GIFT15 B(reg) cells (Rafei et al, 2009) are suppressive regulatory B-cells obtained by ex vivo treatment of mouse splenocytes with a fusion protein combining GM-CSF and IL15. These cells arise from CD19(+) B-cells, express major histocompatibility complex class I (MHCI) and MHCII, surface IgM and IgD, and secrete IL10, but lose expression of the transcription factor PAX5, coupled to upregulation of CD138 and reciprocal suppression of CD19.
