[GCTM-2(+), GCTM-2(-), GCTM-2(high), GCTM-2(low)]
The monoclonal antibody of this name was raised against human embryonal carcinoma cells and identifies a surface antigen on embryonal carcinoma cells, visceral yolk sac-type carcinoma and colorectal carcinoma cells (Pera et al, 1988). The antigen is used as a marker in the characterization of human pluripotent embryonic stem cells and has been used also for their enrichment (International Stem Cell Initiative 2007; Reubinoff et al, 2000; Zhou Q et al, 2010). Schopperle et al (2003) have reported that the GCTM-2 antigen is podocalyxin, a conclusion that Laslett et al (2007) have questioned.
