abbr. FpA. This fragment of fibrinogen (ADSGEGDFLAEGGGVR) corresponds to fibrinogen-alpha(1-16) from the N-terminal region of the alpha chain, which is released from the parent molecule by thrombin cleavage.
Persson et al (2003) have injected samples containing fibrinopeptides generated by the interaction between bacteria and plasma into animals and shown that this treatment causes the infiltration of white blood cells, and the induction of the pro-inflammatory cytokine MCP-1 at the inflamed site.
Singh et al (1990) have reported that Fibrinopeptide A, unlike Fibrinopeptide B, is not chemotactic for macrophages.
