[fibroblast motility stimulating factor] This activity was found in the conditioned medium of human lung fibroblasts (Hu et al, 1997). It behaves as a paracrine motility stimulating factor for some established human sarcoma cell strains. FMSF has been identified as an aminoterminal fragment of human fibronectin. In SYN-1 sarcoma cells FMSF predominantly stimulates chemotaxis and some chemokinesis, and it is chemotactic also for a variety of human fibrosarcoma, leiomyosarcoma, liposarcoma, synovial sarcoma, and neurofibrosarcoma cells.
