[FHA domains]
[forkhead associated domain] This protein domain of approximately 55-75 amino acids was identified originally as a conserved region of forkhead transcription factors (Hofman and Bucher, 1995). Intact FHA domains are much larger than the core motif detected in computer comparisons and contain up to 180 amino acid residues (Liao et al, 1999; Hammet et al, 2000). The domain contains several highly conserved residues separated by spacer sequences, and is found primarily in eukaryotic nuclear proteins. It has been detected in kinases, phosphatases, kinesins, transcription factors, RNA-binding proteins, and metabolic enzymes (Durocher and Jackson, 2002).
