The cDNA encoding mature Evasin-4 (110 amino acids) has been cloned from the blood-feeding parasitic common brown dog tick, Rhipicephalus sanguineus. Evasin-4 is a chemokine binding protein that binds CCL5 and CCL11. Administration of recombinant Evasin-4 in animal models of disease demonstrates that the protein possesses potent anti-inflammatory properties (Déruaz et al, 2008).
Braunersreuther V et al (2013) have reported that treatment of mice with Evasin-4 in a coronary occlusion model improves post-infarction myocardial injury and survival in mice, which is attributed to selective inhibition of the CC-Chemokine CCL5.
