Endophilin A1

The approved gene symbol for this protein is SH3GL2 [SH3 domain-containing GRB2-like protein 2]. it is being referred to also as Endophilin A or Endophilin 1. (note that the term endophilin A1 may be used as a collective term and may include also endophilin A2, and endophilin A3) The cDNA for Endophilin A1 has been cloned by Giachino et al (1997) together with two other cDNAs encoding proteins containing an SH3 domain. One of the functions of endophilin A1 is the regulation of an endocytosis process known as FEME [Fast Endophilin-Mediated Endocytosis] (see: Endophilins).
