Endonexin-2

abbr. ENX2. This protein has been purified from human placental extracts by Schlaepfer et al (1987). The protein binds calcium ions and also binds to liposomes containing phosphatidylserine and phosphatidylethanolamine in a Ca2+-dependent manner.

The protein was termed endonexin-2 as it shows 74 % sequence identity with bovine endonexin. Endonexin-2 has extensive homology with Ca2+ binding proteins termed annexins and the partial sequence can be aligned with that of lipocortin-1 and calpactin-1. Kaplan et al (1988) have cloned the human cDNA and shown that the gene is expressed in human cell lines ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
