[Endothelial cell neutrophil-activating peptide] This factor is isolated from activated human endothelial cells. It leads to cell activation of neutrophils and is a strong chemoattractant for these cells (see also: Chemotaxis).
The factor occurs in two forms, designated ENAP-alpha (7.5 kDa) and ENAP-beta (17 kDa), respectively. They are identical in their biochemical properties and biological activities with two other Neutrophil-activating proteins (see: MONAP, LYNAP). Both factors are identical with one of the molecular forms of IL8 (Schroeder and Christophers, 1989).
