abbr. dSR-CI. Drosophila scavenger receptor CI has been cloned by Pearson et al (1995). The protein, encoded by gene CG4099, contains several well-known sequence motifs, including two complement control protein domains and somatomedin B domains, MAM domains, and mucin-like domains. Expression is restricted to macrophages / hemocytes during embryonic development. When expressed in mammalian cells, Drosophila scavenger receptor CI exhibits high affinity and saturable binding of acetylated low density lipoprotein and mediates its degradation.
