Drosophila GPA2/GPB5

This is a fly ortholog of Thyrostimulin, consisting of the two subunits GPA2 [Glycoprotein hormone alpha 2 ortholog] encoded by gene CG40041) and GPB5 ([Glycoprotein hormone beta 5 ortholog] encoded by gene CG17878).

Sellami et al (2011) have reported that endocrine cells producing GPA2/GPB5 are found in the abdominal neuromeres and are different from the endocrine cells producing crustacean cardioactive peptide or those making leucokinins. They are also not immunoreactive to antisera to the hormones Dh [Diuretic Hormone ... ... ... ...
