[DAP kinase-related protein-1] This cytoplasmic serine threonine kinase shows a high degree of homology to DAP kinase. The approved gene symbol is DAPK2 [death-associated protein kinase-2, DAP kinase 2].
DRP-1-beta is an alternatively splice isoform that lacks the calmodulin regulatory domain of DRP-1, and instead contains a motife resembling a leucine zipper similar to the protein binding region of ZIPK. This isoform retains the biochemical and cellular properties that are common to DRP-1 and ZIPK but in addition can bind to the ATF4 transcription factor like ZIPK.
