abbr. DDT; also: DDCT. This enzyme [EC4.1.1.84] is called also Phenylpyruvate tautomerase. The enzyme is being referred to also as D-dopachrome carboxy-lyase, D-dopachrome decarboxylase, Phenylpyruvate tautomerase II.
The human cDNA encodes a protein of 118 amino acids (Nishihira et al, 1998) that is 80 % identical with the rat enzyme. The human and mouse genes are identical in exon structure to the gene encoding MIF [macrophage migration inhibitory factor], which is released from T-cells and macrophages
