Corticostatic peptide GP-CS3

This peptide has been identified from guinea pig bone marrow on the basis of its ability to inhibit the secretion of corticosterone by isolated rat adrenal cells stimulated by ACTH. Sequence analysis shows that the peptide consists of two chains, RRPRCFCRLHCRC (Arg-Arg-Pro-Arg-Cys-Phe-Cys-Arg-Leu-His-Cys-Arg-Cys) and CRCHLRCFCRPRR (Cys-Arg-Cys-His-Leu-Arg-Cys-Phe-Cys-Arg-Pro-Arg-Arg), which are linked by four disulfide bonds (Hu et al, 1991).
