Chensinin-1 is an antimicrobial peptide (SAVGRHGRRFGLRKHRKH) from the Chinese brown frog Rana zhenhaiensis. This peptide has been identified independently as dybowskin-2CDYb. The peptide is active against Bacillus cereus and Streptococcus lactis. The peptide is a defense peptide that shows selective antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, and is inactive against Gram-negative bacteria. Chensinin-1 induces membrane depolarization and damages the integrity of the cytoplasmic membrane, causing efflux of molecules from the cytoplasm. It does not inhibit the growth of MCF-7 and HeLa cells and has no hemolytic activity for human
