Chemokine-like Protein N73 |
Whey acidic protein 3 |
||
This primate-specific in vivo-translated protein of 81 amino acids contains 6 cysteine residues and does not show any significant sequence homology to other characterized proteins. The protein does not have significant sequence similarity to known chemokines and also does not show characteristic cysteine patterns found in chemokines but shows a gene structure similar to chemokine genes. It shows strong structural resemblance (3D folding) to a known anti-HIV chemokine, vMIP-1 [viral MIP-1-alpha], and thus is considered a remote member of the human chemokine family (Tomczak et al, 2012).
