calcium placental protein |
EFNB2 |
||
This protein was found in the conditioned media from primary cultures of mouse kidney cortical cells. The protein inhibits the growth of calcium oxalate crystals and, by functioning as a crystal growth inhibitory protein, may prevent the formation of kidney stones (Hoyer et al, 1995; Worcester and Beshensky, 1995).
The sequence of the N-terminal 21 amino acids of this protein match that of osteopontin, a phosphoprotein initially isolated from bone matrix (Worcester et al, 1992).
