The monoclonal antibody CSAT (Neff et al, 1982) is directed against a chicken cell surface antigen that participates in the adhesion of skeletal muscle myoblasts to extracellular matrices and causes their detachment from substratum.
Knudsen et al (1985) have reported that the antigen recognized by the CSAT antibody consists of three membrane glycoproteins, of which the band 2 protein is one. The antigen is expressed on skeletal and cardiac muscle and on tendon, skeletal, dermal, and cardiac fibroblasts (Decker et al, 1984).
Takada et al (1991) have cloned the human integrin-alpha-3 cDNA. They have reported that the human integrin-alpha-3 amino acid sequence is 89 % identical to hamster GAP-B3
