CFU-Mast

[mast cell colony-forming cells; mast cell colony-forming units] Circulating progenitor cells of mast cells, previously believed to be monocytes or basophils (see also: hematopoiesis). These cells can be detected in a colony formation assay. They express CD34 and kit and are Ly1(-), CD14(-), and CD17(-).

Mast cells are produced in response to SCF.
