CD246 is the receptor for pleiotrophin (midkine) (see: ALK).
The antigen is expressed on T-cells. Cells in normal small intestine, are negative. Weak expression is seen in the brain, colon, prostate. Some T-cell anaplastic lymphmas and many inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors stain positive for CD246.
