[carcinoma-derived growth factor] This factor was isolated from the conditioned medium of a human lung cancer cell line, T3M-30, which was established in a protein-free chemically defined medium (Kikyo et al, 1994). CD-GF stimulates the proliferation of a variety of cells, including human leukemia cells, HL-60, and melanoma cells, SK-28. SDS gel electrophoresis of the purified CD-GF yields two major protein bands of 24 kDa and 22 kDa. The partial amino acid sequences of the 24 kDa protein are identical with those of heavy chain of human ferritin. CD-GF activity is blocked completely with a monoclonal antibody to the ferritin heavy chain.
