[coelomic cytolytic factor-1] This factor, termed also CCF [coelomic cytolytic factor] of 42 kDa has been isolated from the coelomic fluid of earthworms Eisenia foetida (Oligochaeta, Annelida). The factor has the ability to lyse different mammalian tumor cell lines (Bilej et al, 1995). CCF-1 is present on cells of the mesenchymal lining of the coelomic cavity and also on free coelomocytes. CCF-1 expression increases significantly after parenteral injection of bacterial endotoxin (Bilej et al, 1998; Köhlerova et al, 2004). CCF-1 appears to be involved in cell mediated cytotoxicity.
