C-type natriuretic peptide 2 is a member of four similar but functional distinct C-type peptides (Inoue et al, 2003) (see: C-type natriuretic peptide 1, C-type natriuretic peptide 3, C-type natriuretic peptide 4). The peptide is a member of a larger family of natriuretic peptides consisting of ANF, BNP, CNP, and ventricular natriuretic peptide.
