abbr. BmhGH-like protein. Chen et al (2014) have isolated a 30 kDa protein from the pupa stage of silkworm that can be immunoprecipitated by antibodies directed against human growth hormone. This BmhGH-like protein consists of two lipoproteins, named hGH-L1 [human growth hormone-like-1] and hGH-L2 [human growth hormone-like-2]. Assays with K562 erythroleukemia cells demonstrate that both proteins can promote cell division in vitro.
