BmDefensinB

[Bombyx mori defensin B] The cDNA for this defensin has been cloned from the fat body of the silkworm, Bombyx mori (Kaneko et al, 2008). BmDefensinB shows typical structural characteristics of invertebrate defensins and has no orthologs. BmDefensinB is expressed tissue-specifically in the fat body and is activated strongly by bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis, and by an entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana.
