Called also BLAST, B-LAST 1 (Thorley-Lawson et al, 1982). Blast-1 is a glycoprotein associated with cell activation and expressed on the surface of leukocytes. Staunton et al (1989) have reported that Blast-1 is anchored to the cell surface through a glycosyl-phosphatidylinositol (GPI)-containing lipid. The degree of overall amino acid sequence homology reveals that OX45 is a rat homolog of Blast-1, and thus is identical with human CD48.
Yokoyama et al (1991) have reported that Blast-1 is expressed on T-cells and monocytes, and that its expression appears to be restricted to lymphoid cells and myeloid cells. Resting B-cells
